Willits Center for the Arts Small Works Call to Members
Time to get ready for Small Works!
Willits Center for the Arts is looking for member artists to exhibit smaller pieces (2D pieces 12" x 16" or under) for sale during our annual Small Works Show in December. It’s only $30 and up to become a member/renew and that can happen at the curator drop off in December! Paintings, sculpture, fabric, glass, prints, photographs, sets of greeting cards and more are welcome. Please plan to deliver your art to the gallery on Tuesday December 2, 2025, between 10am and 2pm. Show opens on December 6, 2025. Hey there: Are you a wanna- be gardener, but have no yard, or place to cultivate a garden/vegi garden ,or exercise that passion? Well look no further, then to our very own Community Garden here in" Happy Willits," located next to the Recreation Grove; (adjacent to the Social Service Dept.) A Non Profit Project. With once a year fee (like renting a plot) grow whatever you want, but must commit for a year, no abandoning it. Serious gardeners welcomed. There's limited spaces-sign ups begin in March. Honoring Elders Day is an annual event at the City of 10,000 Buddhas hosted by Instilling Goodness Developing Virtue School. It is a celebration of elders in the Ukiah community and beyond. There will be performances and a vegetarian lunch. This is a public complimentary event. Register to reserve a seat.

The Ukiah Branch Library invites families and folks of all ages to visit our reading station at the Ukiah Farmer’s Market every Saturday May through October in 2025! This longstanding, volunteer-run program provides an hour of age-appropriate read-alouds to market goers from 10 – 11 a.m., weather permitting. We hope to see you there!
Please note that rain and/or temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit will cancel that Saturday’s Farmer’s Market Reading Time.

At Highlight Gallery in Mendocino we are pleased to host a show entitled 'Monarama' by local artist, Richard Weiss. Richard has taken Mona Lisa and put her in interesting situations, wardrobes and with family and friends! Some of his images are painted kinetic linocuts and others were created in watercolor pencil or acrylics. This show is definitely worth a viewing and Richard will be in the gallery for a meet and greet on September 13th from 4 to 7pm during Mendocino's Second Saturday Art Walk event so please come by and chat with him about his riffs on Mona! The show will run from September 5th through October 30th, six days a week (gallery closed Thursdays) from 11am to 4pm. Hope to see you soon!
